One Hit Wonder (OHW) is a ready-to-spray, automotive-grade base coat paint. Its unique formula eliminates the need for reducers, primers or adhesion promoters.

It’s been rumored that OHW’s adhesion is strong enough to "stick to butter" and while haven't tested that, we can tell you that OHW provides superior adhesion to virtually all substrates including plastics and metals with a degrease and scuff.

Best known as a “hydrographic paint” because of it’s long dip window and activator resistance, OHW is also popular with many car, bike and boat painters who “skip the dip” and just lay the clear on top with stunning results.

Oh, and, did we mention no primer needed? No primer needed.

    FEATURES

One Hit Wonder can be used as a regular automotive-grade basecoat for all your paint projects. You do not NEED to apply hydrographic film to enjoy the many features of One Hit Wonder including:

No Primer Needed: One Hit Wonder goes direct to metal, plastic*, fiberglass, wood, bone, chrome, stainless steel, aluminum, glass (media blast is best), previously painted parts and more.

Ready to Spray: No need to purchase extra reducers or adhesion promoters. We've simplified the process so you can feel confident knowing that One Hit Wonder is all you need. And any leftover paint can be poured straight back in the can.

Long Dip Window: A long dip window means you can spread your project out over several months. Paint one weekend and dip the next.

Automotive Grade: Easy to apply, durable and chip-resistant, One Hit Wonder dries quickly and lays down smooth for a professional finish.

Will Not Rust or Freeze: One Hit Wonder is a solvent- based paint that, unlike water-based paints, will not rust metal or freeze in storage.

Fast Drying + Activator Resistant:  Dry to the touch in about 5-10 minutes and ready to dip or apply clear coat. Does not go tacky after applying activator.

Works with All Hydrographic Film: One Hit Wonder is designed to work with all films including custom prints.

Heat Test Up to 450°: Fine for valve covers and everything on an engine except the hot side of the turbo and headers.

No De-Lamination: Chemically bonds with hydrographic film using the activator as a catalyst. The clear coat also bonds into the paint and cures everything into one element creating a more durable finish and preventing peeling or flaking layers.

Made in the USA with the finest materials and deepest pigments available.

*HDPE plastics require flame treatment for ANY paint application. How can you tell if a plastic is HDPE? Check for a stamp, ask the manufacturer or do an acetone test (rub a small amount in a hidden spot and if the plastic reacts at all - goes sticky, matte, etc. it is not HDPE and you can paint on it directly.)

    CHOOSING YOUR COLOR

Since water transfer film is semi-transparent, pick a paint color that compliments your film. Please note that you can mix different One Hit Wonder colors to create your own variations. We recommend keeping brites with brites. Brite and lighter colors work best over a light surface.

    APPLICATION

All applications require proper surface preparation. Click here for a step-by-step application guide.

Aerosol: Shake well for 1-2 minutes. Spray on paper for 1-2 seconds to empty filler tube and release propellant. Apply paint about 8” from surface with light, even coats and a 2” overlap. When you are finished painting, to prevent clogs, hold the aerosol can upside-down and spray until clear gas appears. This will work for Standard Clear Coat aerosols as well.

Spray Gun: Stir paint well. Strain paint into spray gun using a disposable mesh paint filter. Set gun pressure to around 22 psi, with the trigger pulled in half-way. Using a 1.3 or 1.4 tip, apply a coat of One Hit Wonder. If part is not fully covered apply a second coat after 5-10 minutes or once the first coat is dry to the touch.

Please note, One Hit Wonder requires a top protective clear coat unless mixed with our hardener/activator at an 8:1 (paint to hardener) ratio.
